Geology fossil hunting and hiking in Tasmania, Australia

If you have a fossil collector, rock hunting, or have an interest in Geology, Fossil Bluff, Tasmania is a must destination. It 'was classified as a geological monument and is surrounded by other geological wonders.

Fossil Bluff is a bluff of sandstone layers of fossils trapped in stone. And 'separate waves of Bass Strait, the ocean, which washed Tasmania from mainland Australia. This reef was below sea level in the Oligocene geological period(Approximately 38 million years ago) and it is on the upper parts of the moraine, which were deposited by glaciers during the Permian (about 280 million years ago). Can bluff around low tide on foot and see where the sand and meet Tillit. Some of the sandstone layers rich in fossils, some do not, however, shows the different climatic conditions that occurred during the Oligocene million. The fossils are not unlike many shells foundcollected on the beaches today.

West of Fossil Bluff, Cape table is a circular plug of volcanic origin with a slope rising to 170 meters north (560 feet) above sea level. The volcanic soil of the Cape is home to a variety of crops andconsidered the richest agricultural land in Tasmania. The basalt is about 13.3 million years old, which is geologically recent.

To the east and west of the beach and at regular intervals for many miles to the east is a flat gray stone. This is the Tillit Wynyard, about 280 million years, which originated in the Permian geological period. It was formed in the era of ice ages, while Australia was part of the super-continent called Gondwana. For the next four months, I focused all my energies on my work. If I was not working, I was watching TV or doing something in writing. Meanwhile, my sister has been collecting information about the places you can visit while we are there. Both being interested in nature, I had all the details up tothem.

When it came time for the trip, but I realized I had no research, but a glance through a few books have brought home from the library. I had not spent the time to work with you to make plans or even one of mine.

If you plan on traveling with your family, do your own research to come. That may seem like common sense, but it was something that did not. As a result, I had some dissatisfaction with the leadership.
